I have few ideas for Indian Football .. I dunno where this voice will reach but a try nevertheless
(Hey btw you have phone no of Praful Patel ? :P )
Also look at my older post on Indian Football
10 boosters for Indian Football
1. All teams and clubs should be named aligned to some city or region . PSU /Private owner companies should be better off as main front logo sponsor of team . Names like Dempo , SBT, Chirag , ONGC , Mahindra , Air India do no good for fan base .. Names should be city based or region of particular city to associate fans to their clubs . Pangim FC , Trivadrum FC , Colaba FC will make people more associated with them in loyality . If needed clubs could be made franchise of I Leagues
2. We need better broadcaster than Zee Sports for I League . Ten Sports is still better but it shows only handful of matches
3. Timing of start of I League matches should be more apt. A 4 pm start do no good for fans . Matches played at 7:30 pm under flood lights will be better in enticing people to ground. After a day at office away from heat , a I league match can be stress bruster .
4. I League 2nd division should be played on home and away basis just like I league div 1 for at least 7-8 months a year with 4 teams to and fro to league 1 . Initially teams could be locked in I league div 1 and 2 for 2-3 years to help them build the fan and player base .
5. I League div 1 should be played without any gaps in between them and tournaments like Fed Cup should be played simultaneously . Other small tounament should be done away with or may be season opener
6. I League teams should be not allowed to play in State Leagues . State and National League should be separate . If needed teams like Mohun Bagan should play their team B in state league with those players separate from main team for that particular year
7. Winners of state league should be entry ticket for I league div 2 .No of teams from particular state entering I league div2 should be decided by quality and standard of football in that particular state . Like 4 teams for West Bengal and 2 teams from Karnataka- in div 2 and so on...
8.We need new franchise clubs from Ahmedabad , Delhi , Bangalore, Hyderabad , Chennai , Gangtok , Jaipur ,Surat , Srinagar , Jammu , Jamshepur , Bhubneshvar , Gurgaon,.... with coming years to get pan India look
9. T may sound a little optimist and futuristic but tournament like Durand cup (2nd oldest cup in world history) could be re-remoulded into IPL like tournament of 4-5 weeks in month of January or November with top best 6 clubs of country invited to play in it attracting best footballers of world with high pay for 1 month with high media coverage and advertisement .
10. And finally we need a Lalit Modi for AIFF management . AIFF needs new and out of box thinking.
P.S. Not very happy with results of auction of new franchisee of IPL as Pune and Kochi . I think IPL missed chance to indulge huge fan base of Gujarat and Central India without franchisee of Ahmedabad and Lucknow/Kanpur . But again any auction after 4-5 years will have lot of oppurtunity with bigger bucks

16 december.. Do you Know??
Arguably the greatest day in historical importance for Indian Forces ... December 16 is celebrated as 'Vijay Divas' (Victory Day) as on this day in 1971 Indian armed forces defeated Pakistan that resulted in the creation of Bangladesh. The 13-day war ended on December 16 when General AAK Niazi of Pakistan (Commanding Officer East Pakistan) signed unconditional instrument of surrender before India's Lt. Gen. Jagjit Singh Aurora at Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. Around 1 lakh Pakistani armed forces personnel were taken as prisoners of war (including some government officials ). It was the biggest surrender of armed forces by any country after World War 2. It is a saga of valour, a military classic scripted and presented to the Indian people by Indian commanders and troops. The surrender Document -
I woke up in morning , Glanced through (e-papers) three most circulated English newspapers of India viz. Times Of India , The Hindu , Hindustan Times .To my surprise , All three of them had no coverage of this historical day . In contrast (Pakistan`s leading Newspapers ) Dawn , The Nation presented exclusive editorials in defense of Pakistani forces even covering up for crimes committed by Pakistani forces in pre-war months. Pakistan celebrates 6th of September as its National Defense Day (Army Holiday) when Indian forces were halted in attempt to capture Lahore city when Indian forces had already gained 360 sq. km. of Pakistani territory on the Lahore front ,thanks to 3 Jat's capture of Batapore and Dograi. But the fact that Lahore was saved that day with Pakistan putting maximum effort of forces ,It is one of the most celebrated days of Pakistan .But in contrast , India`s major victory is still a day unknown to Indian masses (especially youth born after 1971 ). Even after 39 years, this day has still lot of potential to offer. In the abiding shame of disaster in Mumbai’s 26/11 (2008), the glory of Bangladesh 16/12 (1971) can serve to rekindle hope in the people of India, especially the younger generation. Even keeping focus off from neighbors ,If we look that face that Indian Defense forces ( Army Navy , Airforce ,CRPF ,BSF , .... ) are short of officers in excess of 20,000 (Excluding personal below officers rank ), narration of our heroics with Vijay Diwas can inspire youths to join forces and install a feelings of patriotism and nationalism . Responsibility is on Government ,Media and all of us . But Indian Media is too busy catching up and reprinting western media reports of Tiger woods sex life... Wake Up.....

Telangana : Why all is this Fuss about Pandora Box ??
Concept of Indian Subcontinent ( Erstwhile India inclusive of India-Pakistan-Bangladesh ) has always perplexed me to the core. When few states in west and east separated out , How rest of India managed to survive initial years of heterogeneous characteristic? Linguistically and culturally India is far more diverse than whole Europe. Fragmentation of India in to 20-30 small countries would never have been a distinct probability, had States Reorganization Commission not been appointed by Jawaharlal Nehru. The States Reorganisation Act of 1956 drew new lines and internal map of India changed giving respect to all major languages and cultures of India thus appeased most of the India`s population. Since then almost a dozen new demands have come up for new states based on linguistic, cultural, economic or even political distinctness. Out of them , Maharashtra, Haryana, Chattisgarh, Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh, few others in North East managed to establish their own governance.....Then why all is this fuss about Telangana now? Some argue that it gonna open a chain for many other such demands ? Didn't it happen in 2000 when 3 new states were formed in BJP government? And if some parts of a state do want their own governance, Isn't that synchronous with democracy applied for that region?
Ok Lets get into some rhetorical argument -
1. People from a region always like to have their say in policies which effect them. Recent furor over sugarcane prices let to massive protest from farmers of West UP. Mayavati government was complete oblivious of the pain of west UP and Central government was not ready to agree to their demands. With no where to go , onus was on finances of western UP. Of course why would someone living in a village near Allahabad be sympathetic to farmer of Muzaffarnagar`s village? Similar people sharing similar profession and needs should have of their own represented government understanding their needs.
2. What bonding can someone living in Meerut/Agra and someone from Ghorakhpur share? When there is difference in identity , culture and language the concept of that state becomes invalid. Haryana carved out of Punjab for much lesser reasons. Why not harit Pradesh?
3. UP is the sixth largest state in the world by population. People have to travel upto 700 kilometers to just reach the state secretariat. Eventually development and management becomes tough in such cases. Even if state government become serious for welfare and development of people and state, administration of such a large state becomes tough . Smaller states are always easier to manage . Even if UP is divided in 3 states, they will still be more or less the size of Haryana and bigger than Kerala .
Looking ahead , I envisage demands for Vidharbha(out Of Maharashtra ), Bundelkhand (Out of UP and MP ) , Gorkhaland (from West Bengal) , Harit Pradesh ( from Uttar Pradesh ) as few that need urgent attention for statehood consideration .
Coming to Telengana - Hyderabad- Andra problem. On facts, Hyderabad is product of efforts of whole Andra Pradesh. Two cities that should better be converted into union territory are Bombay and Hyderabad, albeit for different reasons. Bombay needs special status to be looked after its degrading condition(will discuss later someday). Hyderabad region can serve as UT capital of both Coastal Andra and Telengana. In addition, both states can develop a sub capital for individual administrative needs. This will bring more cities into development picture. Big cities under independent/non-political control is never a bad idea if we want to decentralize development in a state to many cities .(Different discussion - Will be continued ....)
P.s. I really disturbed with names we have for our states .Names like UP, MP, Bihar make me feel as if they lack historical Identity. Names like Awadh, Magadh, Oudh will reflect better picture of past in future

Wake up Pakistan
Disclaimer : I have tried to pen this article in most secular way keeping nationalist views at bay . But few biased views may creep in .
Preface:
In current scenario , Pakistan could well earn a sobriquet of "Land of Conspiracy Theorists" . People of Pakistan are in state of both confusion and frustration from political affairs .And that makes a perfect breeding grounds for conspiracy theories to prosper . And mix to it - Patriotism ,True Islamic interpretations,Race Awakening , Muslim Identity ..... You can have even educated mass falling into gullible traps .
List starts with Ahmed Quraishi , Musharraf-sympathizing, democracy-hating, journalist whose own website referred to him as the Master of Immaculate Deception. Less said , better...ok Watch out his web page
Followed by Shireen Mazari , once described by the late Kahlid Hasan as Pakistan`s Ann Coulter now working as the Spokes person on Foreign Affairs of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf political party , headed by famous Pakistani cricketer Imran Khan . She has also earned name of he “Lady Taliban” of Pakistani journalism .
Another famous conspiracy theorist is Moin Ansari who seems to have a sex fetish in his writings. Mostly writing on "Sex Antics of Mohandas Gandhi" , sex life of Indira Gandhi and even not sparing Bilawal Bhutto .
But the biggest name missing from this list is Dan Brown of Pakistan , Zaid Hamid a self-styled Pakistani security consultant and defense analyst . He profess to his followers that all countries have one sole motto in life - "To destroy Pakistan and Islam" . He can find a praise as good vocal speaker but every time the way he mixes facts and fiction to prove that lobby of Jew , Hindus and Christan's Zionists are responsible for Pakistan`s precarious situation and all intelligence agencies CIA, RAW, MOSSAD, MI5 are conspiring against Pakistan is both bewildering and disgusting. My first impression was just "Alice in Wonderland" but the way he spits venom in Pakistani media with Israel and India as targets is alarming to say the least..
After Brasstrack shows ,His major Pakistani media limelight was "Hindu Zionist/Intelligence are behind 26/11 attacks" with Kasab as Amar Singh , agent of RAW" . I was LMAO .. Alice , You did it again after that chatpati 9/11 conspiracy theory . That followed his public speeches -
Wake up Lahore - Lahore University students
Indian Intentions for Pakistan
Kal Tak Debate with Bharat Verma
......to name a few
With his rhetoric, He is gaining fast popularity in Pakistan . After all religion is opium of masses .Throughout history there has been lot of bloodshed in quest to prove superior God . And add nationalism , perfect recipe is ready to dope the masses. Lets accept ,Pakistan is battling with problems .Not just political turmoil even inflation , poverty , unemployment ,load shedding and other infrastructure lacks , security ... With all government ineptitude , in desperation of alternatives ,people are taking his bait . I am sure more than Iqbal , he would have studied Adolf Hitler .Mind you ,Hitler's party achieved a higher level of credibility amongst the German public by putting some of their rhetoric into action. Mr Hamid is on same path. Little knowledge is dangerous thing. Zaid Hamid`s guile works perfectly on above principle. Fabrication of facts(hiding counter arguments) provide easy answers in front of semi hypnotized people. Conspiracy theory are like to determine what happened, and then throw out all the data that doesn't fit their conclusion, and then hail their findings as the only possible conclusion . Despite the invalidity of these theses, they have staying power because they offer no proof, and hence they cannot be disproved, especially if they are the product of a paranoid imagination. Common to most of these conspiracy theories is 'de-individualization', which is lumping people into impersonal groups and taking their humanity away from them.
Zaid invariably speaks about Indian problem and hence partition of India .My argument is why is he so concerned about India? Why Indian obsession ? What about Pakistan? Should I talk about NW frontier, Baluchistan ,Punjabi-Mujjahir , Shia-Sunni issues?? Hamid grow up now, analyze Pakistan’s problem and try and solve them. India doesn't wanna Lahore , Karachi or peshawar. India is global player looking to be next economic superpower . But just for reason that we share common border ,stable Pakistan is in India`s interest too.
"We ruled India for 1000 years , spain for 800 years" so Indians and world have inferiority complex. Guess making a comment on this will be nonsecular but simple answer is Hinduism as world`s oldest philosophy spread to all countries of Asia and beyond including Arab , China , Malaysia .So should we conclude ,Hindus ruled the Islamic world for multiples of 1000 years? Guess that would be Himid class rhetoric from my side ... And I am better sane here . On other hand does hamid suffer from complex when vows to take avenge of 1971 war by breaking India .Talking about wars heroics and national pride always incite the mob .Without going into altercations for who had upper hand in 1965, 1971 ,... My assertion is current generation born after 1971 have not witnessed the animosity times of 1971 . Most of the new generation has moved on to sanity. Trying to keep past alive with spice of Ghazwa-tul-Hind will only take you 30-40 year back living frustrated in animosity... Pakistanis must decide whether they want to be part of the real world or continue to enjoy the circus of rumors, almost always unfounded or subsequently dis proven, that the conspiracy theory brigade has set up .Time to Wake up Pakistan.....
I Welcome Pakistani Patriot barrage .... Ahhh forget me ,I am an Hindu-Indian . Mr Nadeem F Paracha , do you have any listener Left?
P.s. Zaid says "Humari (Pakistani) sakale(looks) bhi inse(Indians) muklalif (different) hai : Zaid initially claimed Kasab as Indian Sikh , only to change his words later..
Here is video when he says Pakistan launched Operation Glibitar in 1935 . Pakistan became independent in 1947 .. Oh you Mossad , RAW , CIA agent don't try to change our history now

Karwa chauth
I confess that I get goaded by fatuous questions raised by some feminists or neophytes who questions customs of Karwa chauth ,Bhai Dooj ,Rakhi , ......As if its a fad to impugn old Indian traditions or being a heterodox .At same time they adore the concept of valentine day celebrations .Yeah "West is the Best" is what we live with. About me? I found expression of love in karwa chauth richer than any Valentine Day with love expressed as sacrifice with one`s own volition . Indian customs have legends and myths attached to them , far rich than newly originated V Day celebrations. Today I Don`t wish to pen down more.. Happy Karwa chauth...

Hindi : The Language Killer
Some thackrey n co .. ( or similar people from other similar states) hates Hindi and Hindi speaking state people ... And even I support him for the former and for me Later doesn't exist ... Reason: There is no Hindi speaking state in India for that matter . From Rajasthan to Haryana to UP to MP to Bihar , each of these so called Hindi speaking states have their own languages ... An old proverb says "In India language and culture changes every 100 miles". Even Gujarati spoken in Southern Gujarat and North-West Gujarat are miles different .The language of Rajasthan is Rajasthani, Marwari, Shekhawati ,etc., that of Haryana is Haryanvi and Bangaru , that of MP is Bundeli, Malwi, Chattisgarhi, that of UP is Khadi Boli , Awadhi, Urdu , Brajbhasha and Bhojpuri and of Bihar is Maithili, Bhojpuri, etc .These languages are not just localized but are spoken trans India border into Pakistan as well . But as political chicanery , This Artificial mixture language "Hindi" has been imposed on these states.
India was never a nation before 1947 and each of these states had their own culture and languages . Pre Independence , there were many British scholars who use to consider these so called dialects as independent language like E JOSEPH to Haryanavi , George Abraham Grierson for Rajasthani .But after independence these languages couldn't find place in Indian constitution . Script used by Hindi is borrowed from Sanskrit script .Apart from Devnagri , Haryanvi also uses Nagri script , Rajasthani also uses Mahajani and bojhpuri also uses kaithi .They all have their own vast literature written through geners and own folk Music. Haryana folk music called Raagnis which describes great history of bravery in musical form .Similarly Rajasthan folk music is called Maand all sung in their own language
Language study is paramount to understand the culture of a region . Without their cultural and linguistic identity , search for identity came in form of caste .Hence these states have much more prominent caste rigidness as compared to States of south or far east(Like Maharashtra , Bengal, Karnataka , ....) .
Now Hindi is imposed on people who have historically never spoken it . If this Hindi imposition will continue , I have a fear that richness these regional languages will attenuate out with time . It time that Hindi has to give space to these languages .First step in this direction has to been taken by state governments by introducing these languages as official language and in schools ,colleges and offices so that these languages can officially be part of their culture. Rajasthan Govt has taken a step to buttress Rajasthani by recognizing it as state language . But its still long way to go .....

Indian Fans , football etc
One of my friend Paddy made a interesting wish one day.,.. It was half time break between match of two top European football clubs (one was Manchester club for sure, other I am not very sure of )..He said he has two wishes "One to see India team winning World Cup Cricket and other Indian team playing in World Cup Football in his lifetime" .Even to me this looks very optimist wish but with sense of realism .
Last year I was watching Indian football team play in AFC CUP final against Tajikistan (When Chettri scored hat-trick ), I was surprised to see all aliens face .. Yaa he is biachung , he is chettri , he looks climax lawrance ,Is he Venkatesh? Nah he doesn't play for India any more... what next?? I cant recognise Steven Dias who was approached by LA Galaxy (beckham plays for) or Mahesh Gawli , Gourmangi Singh , Pradeep for that matter
He claims that his fav club is Manchester United (I can hear shout .. "Its mine too" from all directions now. ) My fav club ..hmmm Bayren Munich ...why maybe I liked Hitler personality in my 10th grade history ..so love for Germany .. so support for German team in all World Cups ..and hence support for Bayren Munich (Not to forget a study which says Jats and Germans share same origin :P ) .....Now that's indeed a big chain but I need some reason for support other than just club popularity in India. Most of my age guys stared watching European football ( mainly English ) in early part of this century (thanks to ESPN , got rights for broadcast in India ) and there is no doubt that no other club has been so much successful as ManU in this decade ( Post 1999 ) , hence more than half of European football following people are ManU fan. No wonder now ManU got plans to open Restr-Bar in Delhi to attract consumer capital of India. (I asked my dad abt his fav clubs , he use to keep an eye on liverpool progress on newspaper on non religious basis ) .I was more confused .There were many in my shortlist ..
"Chelsea" (Just to fight against whole bunch of ManU guys ,Ballack was there)
"Leeds United" (Loved this English club around 2000 but their graph went all downhill after 2001)
"Real Madrid" (Just as you get impressed with any multi starrer Movie,I even purchased their T Shirt )
"AC Milan" (For their impressive play)
"Bayren Munich" ..
At last as a maverick , I went to Non-English Club with above reasons).
Now I am thinking.. Do we really like these clubs or this love has evolved just as we think Hollywood is better than Bollywood in movies , McD burger better than Bun Samosa(or vada paao) . We were not born in Manchester or Munich .Is there some sort of Identity Crisis with our new pub going generation ? Ahh.... or Simply a race to copy West(Few lines comes to my mind from "The End" of The Door ).. A guy living in Birmingham will not support ManU but we will....
Few may say that after saturation with European football they don't find Indian football appealing enough. Then I want them to watch India Sri Lanka Match which India won 3-1 .It surly was harbinger of class we can see evolve in future . In General supporting Indian Football my be like Chicken Egg question .Fans want India to perform first and Indian Football needs fans to drive its economy .
I called few of my football fans friends(including paddy) in India`s match in Nehru Cup (when I saw an amazing goal from baichung ).. Invariable response was "Is India Playing today" :O .I was at shock .India won Nehru Cup last time and then won AFC challenge cup last year.. qualified for AFC CUP (equivalent to EURO) ...Now thats some performance for sure..maybe marketing is to fault here but can we be little intelligent fans not crippled by factors of Philip Kotler book.. (Ahh even i was surprised to see Indian Express giving Indian 3-1 victory as small note coverage on 2nd page of sports express) . I was surprised to see a local football event organized by Delhi Daredevils gather much more crowd than Delhi football league finals.even got better media coverage..Guess GMR group knows better marketing than DSA or even IAFF...
Guess this blog is all questions .. no solutions or answers ..Solution will come by thinking for a cause.Cause is your identity .Heared of I league?? Pune FC ,New Delhi Heroes ,Mumbai FC.....Guess too much...Okie we can start with Mohan Bagan which is almost as old a club as ManU .. We should follow English clubs but we can also follow Indian clubs by atleast keeping an eye on fixtures , results and standings and few clips and matches to start with....
Its not that I am all disappointed with Indian Fans. Delhites have impressed me with full pack ambedkar stadium for Indian matches..Kudos to spirit of Delhi.. Tomorrow its India vs Syria in finals of the Nehru Cup .. I wish I was in Delhi now . Nevertheless Good Luck to Team India to create this unique hat-trick ...
Last year I was watching Indian football team play in AFC CUP final against Tajikistan (When Chettri scored hat-trick ), I was surprised to see all aliens face ..
